I had an interesting conversation with someone today. He commented that he is lucky to know so many great people. While this is true and it’s lovely to see someone appreciate the quality of people in their life, it also struck Me that he was oblivious to his own unique and remarkable qualities. When I asked him about this, he expressed the opinion that he was “just ordinary”.

So many people fail to see their uniqueness and they way they enrich the lives of others around them. I find that this is particularly true of some submissives. Usually the more remarkable they are, the more difficulty they have in embracing the idea that they are unique and valuable as humans and exceptional as submissives.

Submission requires strength, integrity (unless you take the “easy route” and falsify your submission using poppers!), honesty, openness and the will to let go of control and entrust it to Another. To be able to offer submission is a special gift that few genuinely hold and should be cherished by the lucky Recipient.

Make today one where you actually stop and find at least one thing you value in yourself. Find a talent that you know others appreciate, even if they fail to verbalise it - you do know what that skill is, your friends will tell you in other ways even if they don’t say it out loud. Once you’ve given yourself that pat on the back, tell the person you are closest to how much you appreciate a quality of theirs. See how much better today just got?
